HOSPITALITY & RETAIL / STUDIO CONCEPT
Common Ground
A place you recognise. A place you return to.
A welcoming signage concept that brings a neighbourhood café identity into the street.
- PROJECT TYPE
- Self-initiated studio concept
- DISCIPLINE
- Shopfront · Retail signage
THE STARTING POINT
The brief.
Give a neighbourhood café a memorable street presence. The signage must be legible from a distance, suit the character of the shopfront and help pedestrians recognise the entrance from both directions.
“Make the first hello feel familiar.”Concept brief developed for this studio exploration.
THE IDEA
Our approach.
We considered how people encounter a café before they walk through its door. A direct fascia sign creates the main point of recognition; a projecting sign adds a second moment of visibility along the pavement.
THE DESIGN WE CREATED
The design.
Cream lettering against deep green tile creates a warm, clear contrast. The typographic identity is carried across the fascia and circular projecting sign, creating a cohesive and approachable retail presence.
THE DESIGN SYSTEM
One idea. Considered in every detail.
- Fascia signage concept
- Projecting sign direction
- Retail colour palette
- Exterior brand application
Illustrative concept work, not a commissioned client project.
